I posted this in the lif colour thread, but figured I would also post it here as a cool comparison/ documentation of my progress. All the photos were taken within a day of their respective adjustments.

Well, my mouth hurts, that’s for sure.

I had a very eventful adjustment on Tuesday! I got a bunch of brackets moved, top and bottom, I think mostly at the front. The result is that once again I have a very crooked looking top archwire (and VERY interesting bracket placement on my central incisor), which means there’s gonna be a lot of interesting movement over the next few weeks. Getting them changed wasn’t bad; a little uncomfortable, and a few of the brackets went flying, but nothing too traumatic. I could feel that things had moved within an hour of my adjustment, and my teeth hurt like hell for the first two days- I couldn’t chew with any of my front teeth, and I’m still having a lot of trouble. It doesn’t help that at present, the only teeth in my mouth that are touching are my two top and bottoms- and at the moment they’re lining up almost with an underbite. It’s interesting to say the least.

Also, no more elastics for the time being! My mouth feels so free! She was amazed at the improvement in my midline- in fact it’s overcorrected. And my crossbite's gone! My ortho also said that I don’t need to get any teeth out, and I don’t need to worry about getting my wisdom teeth out until after my treatment is over. I also got new ligs down the bottom- green, but they look a little strange in the photo. I didn’t have the guts to go for silver at the top.

Here’s a picture! I’ll post more as things start to move.

Hi! Wow, your teeth look great! And you havent had the braces on that long... that's amazing. Great progress!

How long does your ortho say you'll have them on?

Look forward to seeing more photos and hearing your stories.

Thanks, Kara. My ortho never comments on how my teeth are going compared to what she expected or other similar cases, so I don't really have any idea about whether they're progressing on schedule or faster or slower. It's good in a way because I'm not disappointed or getting my hopes up, I just take each adjustment as it comes. But it's really nice to get comments and reassurance like that.

Hey all!

Well, it's finally happened. I had a bracket pop off my tooth yesterday, my upper right lateral incisor. It's still attached by the lig, and seems to be doing okay, but, yeah, it's annoying. I can slide it around my tooth on the archwire, which I've been trying to not let it do, but when it first happened I got to see a naked(ish) tooth for the first time in months! It's so white and shiny and big! Definitely made me excited about down the track when I get these lovelies pried off my teeth. I'll call after the easter long weekend about getting an emergency appointment.

Just thought I'd keep this updated!

Cool! (in a way) LOL! You got to see a sneak peek of a naked tooth! That sucks that you'll have to mess with it through the weekend though. Hopefully you'll make it through. :D Does your family have a big Easter dinner? Mine does... I'm already thinking about what I'll be able to eat!

I hope that bracket doesnt give you too much trouble. Looking forward to your updates. Your smile looks so pretty!

Another adjustment! (I think it was my 5th- 6th including B-day)

I FINALLY got a new wire up top, which makes me very happy. My ortho made fun of me for being excited about it! Also, got red at the bottom, but you can't really tell because I pointed out a gap and a bit of gum recession between my lower right canine and lateral, so my ortho got out the sandpaper strips and did some IPR like she usually does, and then put a powerchain down the bottom. Apparently all the other people who'd had appointments before me had been in a huff about getting IPR, but I get it almost every time and I'm fine with it, and my ortho said she really appreciated that I never did. So, gold star for me.

I'm also back wearing elastics 24/7, one on each side, from my top furthest back braced teeth to my bottom canines. I was told it's to bring my bottom teeth back, or my top ones forward, whichever way that works. My mouth is SORE now! But that doesn't stop me from eating crunchy things. Next time hopefully I won't have powerchains, because I quite like the red ligs.

Here's a picture!
