Dee, I believe your incisors have straightened up thereby closing the gap somewhat. The powerchain will do wonders quickly. Soon you'll be complaining about other gaps opening up, which means the powerchain is working.
Hi Plunickel,
I've been trying to avoid actually looking in the mirror because for such a long time it was an exercise in utter futility. This morning, though, I did look and the space between my bottom incisors and the right eye tooth is nearly closed! I could NOT believe it. This happened in just three days! I'm very impressed. No, mind you, my bottom teeth have just been aching like crazy so I'm not entirely surprised.
I did not know that my canines needed to be "straightened." !!!
Hi Kellyb,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. It's really hard for me to see any changes even though I know they're there. I am definitely feeling that things are changing and so that is very reassuring. Hope you've been well. Am looking forward to seeing your new photos! Take care!!
So glad your getting movement with your powerchains too! Your teeth are looking really great but I agree about getting the gap measured so you can 'see' it shrinking!
Hi Starfish88,
Yes, I'm definitely going to ask him for that information when I go back. My next appointment is on April 8th. I'll report back once I've got some more information! Thanks for your message!
Hi Alex,
There is one lady that I know of, I think her name is Marie, who is 66 years old. I think there might be one or two other women close to her age but I'm not sure. You could email Lynn, the owner of the Board. She might be able to put you in touch with some of them. Good luck!
Dee
Went in for my third adjustment today. I am now the proud owner of two rectangular wires and two powerchains that extend from one molar around the arch to the other. Bot top and bottom arches are like this. Right now I am having a fair bit of pain. My orthodontist told me today that he is retracting my lower teeth in order to have room to pull my upper teeth back and close the gap. This way he is hoping he will be able to close it completely and not leave any residual space. He also told me that he's "going slowly" with me because my teeth are so sensitive. Hmmm. I told him that I'm not in any particular hurry, that he told me right from the beginning that it would take two years (or more) and that all I care about is getting a good result.
My upper canine on the right side is bashing into my bottom teeth though. I pointed this out to him and he said he might have to put some bite turbos in when I come back in May if it continues to be a problem. So, here's hoping this problem will resolve itself. I really REALLY do not want to have to get those awful bite turbos.
Anyway, I have some photos. Will post them once I've had a chance to resize them.

Remember when you thought powerchains would be the worst torture in the world and tried to convince your ortho never to use them?
Oooo 2 powerchains!!! That's both exciting and a little intimidating. I can honestly say though, that I've not had any more pain than usual with mine, fingers crossed the increased pain passes quickly for you! Glad you got the other issue all sorted too. Hopefully your cheeks are a bit more comfortable today!
