As I sit here typing this, I'm constantly clicking several of my front teeth. It's become quite a habit now and a sign that things are moving. Some days they click, other days they don't so I wouldn't get too worried.

Thanks! The sound of the clickiness is unnerving... I don't like it one bit. It's also a tooth that I hit when I talk. I'm struggling to say the letter "S" because of the molar buildups, so I hit that tooth when I'm trying to avoid lisping, which of course makes it throb and click
Lol the joys of painful teeth  And you're welcome. I had a front one that was clicking for about 5 days last week and I didn't much like it either. Some teeth don't bother me much when they click, others just wig me out completely!

JeniK, I'm sure you'll be happy with that decision. I know I am. The clear brackets feel rougher against my lips than the metal ones, but I'm so glad to have brackets that are barely visible to most people.

[quote="chichi"]Day 2 - I am starving.

I got to experience that "kicked in the mouth feeling" last night. I had a turkey burger for dinner (just the meat, no bun) and it took me about an hour to finish half the burger. It had tiny pieces of onion cooked in it, which I thought would be soft enough. Well, every time I bit into one, I may as well have tried to bite a rock. I ended up mashing the ground turkey against the roof of my mouth until i could swallow it. I see myself becoming good friends with protein drinks and yogurt.

Hi there you will be fine !!after 3 weeks i was able to floss and eat ( i cried in front of a plate of food LOL im cuban and i love my cuban food !!! ) one month later i can eat and floss .. i bought i lot of protein shakes and pudding , jello , ice cream help with the pain ! and cold water too i hope this help :)

lol thanks for the support! I've been managing to eat all kinds of soft foods, so I'm not constantly hungry anymore. I've been flossing every night since day 2... or was it 3? Either way, flossing is not an issue for me at the moment :D

No molar bands for me. I asked about that at my consultation and my ortho described them as "torture devices" and said he doesn't use them anymore.

Edit: Your question has made me research exactly what is on my molars. It seems to be called a "buccal molar bracket"? It covers more of the tooth surface than a regular bracket and seems to hold the wire in a tube rather than a trap door like the rest of my brackets. I have these on all of my molars.

I found a picture that looks similar to what I have (I hope it's ok to post links)

I'm noticing a few more clicky teeth... none as bad as that premolar, which still feels kind of loose but has stopped clicking. Let's get things moving!

I've got molar buildups to keep my top teeth from hitting the bottom brackets. My ortho said they would wear down as I get back into eating solid foods... and they have definitely worn down. They're still substantial enough that my top teeth aren't touching the bottom brackets, which was the goal, but now some of my top teeth are touching the bottom teeth and I actually miss NOT being able to bite down properly. I know it sounds weird, but I want my buildups back lol I don't like biting down on clicky teeth.

In other news, my top front teeth are starting to ache a little when I brush and I feel more pressure on them from the wire... I guess that's a good thing :)

I keep meaning to post 1 month pics and I never get to it... doesn't matter since there are no visible changes...

Anyway, today is my first day of molar pain! My top left molars are throbbing and I plan to celebrate by appreciating the fact that I can still chew on the other side of my mouth (for now).

Top is 1 week, bottom is 6 weeks. I can see a little bit of movement, but nothing terribly drastic just yet. Both of these were taken with my jaw completely shut (with molar buildups of course), so it seems like the top front teeth have moved down a little since there doesn't seem to be much of a change in the positions of the back teeth. Definitely going to have some work to do on the bite on the left side...

Chichi, you have the exact braces I am getting---Damon clear upper, metal lower, bite turbos and 15-18 months sentence. Funny!

How did you get those last few pictures so clear? What camera and lighting did you use?

That is funny! I'm excited for you to get braced... then I'll have someone to check up on who's got pretty much the same setup lol

And while I very much enjoy photography and I'd love to be able tell you I've got a studio set up in my house with off-camera flashes, umbrellas and a nice pro lens, these were taken with my phone. The cruddy-looking picture was cropped from an underexposed full-face shot, since I didn't have anything else from my first day (actually now I have the photos my ortho's assistant took on brace day, but they are also not quite up to par). Since then, I've been standing in front of the bathroom mirror, with my phone facing the mirror so I can make sure I've got my whole mouth in the shot, and using the phone's flash as my light source.

I can see a difference. If you look at the wire instead of the teeth you can notice it more.
