Thanks you guys!
Yeah I'm pretty stoked bout my progress! Especially since I've not suffered much pain (other than a bit of ache in the first coupla days), and I've managed to eat some noodles today! Finally, some real food! =)

Week 3.5

#18 Post by msbee »

Update with photos before my 1st adjustment on Friday! Can't wait!

Image Image Image Image
The upper laterals are coming down! :o The wire is almost straight.
And I can see my teeth getting yellower, despite my valiant efforts at regular flossing, rinsing and brushing. Sigh

Image Image
The white blobs are the molar buildups - I've worn them down so much!

Image Image
The lower incisors and canines haven't moved!

Image Image
The lateral incisor is still sticking out a lot (it's the same on both sides). As you can see, my bite is off, hopefully it's just coz of the molar buildups.

Oh and let me say i hate the molar buildups i have them too and my bite is all weird. it feels like rocks :(

Congrats on all that movement. I am so jealous.

Hey Cosmo. Not sure what my wire is, don't even know the diameter. I read on the damon website that they have sets of wires as treatment progresses?
I'll be sure to post if I find out my ortho about the wire! =)
You've not had yours very much longer than me ;) and I see progress in your pics too!

1st adjustment

#23 Post by msbee »

Had my first adjustment a couple of days ago.
A bit of an anticlimax: I was expecting more pain!

My teeth aren't completely straight yet, so no upgrade for me...My ortho changed the wire, but it's still a 0.014 diameter wire.
I've got elastics, to be hooked from the upper lateral incisors to the lower molars, this is to pull the incisors backwards. I'm supposed to only wear it at night, so that's pretty convenient.

It felt a little tighter after the adjustment, but other than that, feels the same. To be honest, I was hoping it'd hurt more, just so I know it's working...I tell you, having braces makes me weird.

Hi msbee :D

Congrats on your 1 month brace-aversery!! :-)o You have beautiful looking teeth to begin with. They will look awesome by the time you're finished! Your brackets don't look bad at all. The self ligating ones look small. Good choice. Good luck with your treatment. 8)

Hmm, I've got a question, hope one of you can help.
The elastics (hooked from the upper lateral incisors to the lower molars) are pulling my teeth back, but I think it's also causing the incisors to be getting longer, such that the lateral incisors are now visibly longer than the middle ones. Is that a cause for concern?
Or will the length of the incisors be corrected again at a later stage?

I am looking at my teeth like only a hundred times a day and I admit, I am paranoid.

Hey Ken, They really are a little longer than the middle incisors - some of my friends have commented too. But one of them who's had braces before told me that the brackets would be adjusted to even out the length in future. So I guess I'll just confirm that during my next appointment.
Congrats on your debracing!!

Hey Cosmo, my teeth are still moving with the 0.14 wire, but more slowly now: I don't see a difference in the alignment of the lower teeth, but the wire looks just a little less crooked. I really hope I get to upgrade at the next review too (in 2.5 weeks!)! I feel a little embarrassed to say that I frequently count down how long I have to my next adjustment. I think people without braces wouldn't understand that.

I count down too. I think once my snaggle tooth is down I won't be paying to much attention. when are your adjustments, once a month?
