Oh yeah I see changes already, they are much more aligned already! Just wait until another month or two passes and I bet you'll see lots more changes. Congrats on your progress!

Hi Ladybird,

thanks for the post on my story, just gave yours a read through, and i can see many similarities between our stories.

looking at back at the last 18 months ive come to realise the first 8 months is where its all at. This time was hugely exciting as you can see things moving day by day almost and taking the interval photos will help boost your moral when your having some down moments.

I still find myself looking at pics of me when my teeth were that way and cannot believe it. You will be the same.

Personally im on the part of the rollercoaster that has no loops or exciting bits left in it, :( but hopefully when i get off and go check the photos ill have some wicked straight teeth.

If you need any advice, pickme ups or just need to talk, stick a post on my story or find me on facebook or whatever. Im not hard to find :)

big hug \o/

Hi Ladybird,

your teeth already look great. How long will you be braced for?

Thank you so much asabea, I already feel more confident smiling.

I was told about two years for my treatment, and I, like you just want to crack on and progress with thicker wires and whatever else is in store for me ....

How long is your treatment?

Two years as well. Having said that, I think most patients are told the same!

So today was my 1st adjustment and also my 2nd month in braces, so two milestones in one.

I was quite excited this morning before my appointment but that was soon diminished by the pain of my orthodontist trying to open the stupid doors on my Damon brackets  I heard that they can get stuck sometimes and the pressure on my teeth was too much!

...and when he could see I was in pain he said "That's unusual we've never had that before"...... yeah thanks for that now I feel like a massive baby

They removed the wire and replaced it with a similar one. '016 round' I think he said?? that was tightened and job done.

Thankfully the doors closed much easier than they opened.

My teeth were a little sore earlier but I think it's getting better.

The only problems I've had that I can think of is 1. I keep using my tongue to get trapped food from the sides of my braces while I'm eating (gross I know) but my tongue gets stuck on the end of the wire like a fish on a hook and I can't get it off for like 10 seconds or something so apart from looking like a complete idiot trying to 'unhook my tongue' it's really frickin painfull... so I REALLY REALLY need to stop doing that

and 2. according to my Ortho apparently mouthwash stains your teeth. Well thank you very much for telling me that two months ago before my teeth turned this horrible dingy colour... so.. Not using mouthwash anymore.

Ok I've finished my rant now I'm off to make some chocolate sponge and custard to cheer me up

Ladybird, I just read your story and your teeth have moved quite a bit in such a short time!! Yay! Like other posters have said, you have nice teeth and a pretty smile already - your results will be smashing :)

Thanks for the heads up on mouthwash  Eep! And the tongue thing; although I laughed out loud, I can totally see myself doing the same thing when I get braced so I'll have to remember this!

Take care, and I look forward to following your story!

Wow Ladybird, I can see big changes in your teeth already. Well done you for getting through your 1st adjustment and 2nd month in braces.
Sorry to read you were in pain with the brackets :(
Good to know also about the mouthwash, I just bought myself a big bottle of it, oops!!!
Really looking forward to reading your story here :)

Thank you PrincessPeach, petitcanard, Emms for your nice comments.

Yeah the mouthwash thing..... I have been brushing my teeth loads since getting braces and using mouthwash religiously morning and night but my teeth were starting to look yellow.

When I had my appt I asked if my teeth were clean enough, I didn't mention the yellow though, and my Ortho said yes they were clean but if I want to use mouthwash I should dilute it with water because something in it stains your teeth. He did say the name of the substance but I can't remember it.

I have chosen to omit it altogether and hope my teeth will become whiter. I have an appt with the hygienist in 6 weeks just before my next adjustment so hopefully that will help too.

I will post some new pictures shortly.

Here are my month 2 pictures on the right compared with my month 1 pictures on the left. The change is not as dramatic as between day 1 and month 1 but I still feel things are moving along :)

I find it really hard to take the photos from the same angle but I think I did ok.

wow your teeth moved fast! Seems like you made a lot of progress. Do you use waterpik or anything like that?
