Thank you both so much for the words of wisdom and encouragement! It's helping a lot. You both are right- I shouldn't give up yet. I've waited and wanted too long to give up and take the easy road. As for my babies, I have a 9 month old, 2 yo, and 4 yo. That is why it's so difficult to find a sitter for them. My 4 yo starts school in August. My ortho's office isn't too double stroller friendly but she said that I could take them to the spacers app but the actual braces app would be too long and too crowded. I wish that I could have my dad come up but he has to work. They are 3 hours away so he couldn't drive all the way up to only stay a few hours. He is basically the only family that I have sadly enough. Besides my kiddos and hubby that is. Anyway, I better run. I need to get going on dinner. Thank you again for the support and encouragement.

Hi Skye, I just wanted to leave a quick note of encouragement and support. Right now I'm about ready to cop out too with these darned spacers but I'm gonna stick it out and I hope you will too! As Denise and KLC said, it may take a little longer to get there but the destination will be the same - achieving your dream of a beautiful smile I hope you're still with us! Chin up hon!

Okay, so tonight the boys and I went to the river walk to get some exercise and clear my head some. After having some time to calm down and think about what you guys said, my decision is: I'm in. I'm not giving up on my dream of straight teeth. Am I happy about having teeth pulled? No. But if I have to endure a little pain from it then I guess I'll have to. So thank you again for the support. Thank you for not letting me just turn my back on my dream b/c I've hit a little speed bump.

Just wanted to offer my encouragement and wish you well on your braces journey.
Well done for deciding to go through with it. I know how hard a decision getting braced and the accompanying extractions is to make (I have a dentist phobia).
Good luck for finding a babysitter. Keep us updated
Yay, only two weeks to go! You know what I discovered? Two weeks ago I was A LOT more nervous than I am now... I guess just having that time to think about it and get used to the idea helped me to settle down Remember to take something before your spacers appointment and eat just before or just after because your jaw will be stiff soon. And I found chewing actually relieved a little of the pain. I'm rooting for you!

Denise- My DH is in Afghanistan (southeastern) this time, too. Last 2 deployments he was in Iraq. He got to call yesterday and it just thrilled me to death! His b-day was on father's day so I'm glad that it was just 1 day after that I got to tell him happy b-day/ father's day! I'm sorry that you had a scare with your nephew! I don't even pay attention to the news or anything b/c it is just way too stressful and down right scary a lot of times! I do know that they have had a few losses when DH is. To say I can't wait for him to come home is a complete understatement!!
Nikki- Oh good advice! Will do for sure! SO how bad do you think the spacers where really? I'm actually not too concerened about them. I think that I might be backwards on that lol. I am so nervous for you tomorrow. What time is your app? You'll have to let me know how everything goes.

The spacers are pretty frustrating. The first couple of days I was taking tylenol/motrin/alleve/baby teething tablets every 4 hours around the clock; they kept me up at night and Wednesday I was up from 2-4am and was reduced to tears About midday Thursday the pain started to go away and I haven't had to take anything since then. So just be ready because the first couple days are awful, but now I hardly notice them! My appointment is at 9am, so about 12 hours to go! I haven't let myself think about it and that way I don't get all worked up and nervous
BTW, glad to hear that your husband is safe!

Well, today is my spacers app. It is at 4:15 CST. It seems like so long from now. I am a little nervous right now. Mostly I think it's b/c I have to take my boys with me and I'm worried about how my 4 year old will act... It's so crazy to think that this time next Monday I will have braces! Ohhh... that just made my stomach get all butterflied up LOL!!!

Well... my journey to braces is officially under way!! I now have 7 little green spacers in my mouth and counting down my final week of ugly teeth! WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!
So far, so good with the "little green dudes". They don't hurt at all and I actually can't even feel the ones on the L side! The lady who put them in said I may end up losing a couple b/c there was almost enough room so that made me very happy! So how long until the pain sets in?
I also got a surprise today. When I went for my consultation a couple weeks ago I asked about getting a different color since they don't have many. Specifically light purple or pink. Welll.... to my great surprise they got me some lavenders! They are beautiful and I can't wait to get them next week. I think I will do light/dark purple. Wow am I excited in case you can't tell!! Teeeeheeee!!!

I hope everything is going well with your spacers. I completely sympathize with the wisdom tooth removal. I had all 4 of mine removed last year in anticipation of getting braced. Maybe your spacers won't give you too much discomfort considering what they told you when they put them in.
Thank you Daisy! I am so past thilled! Especially since I had a mini break down after my consultation. I guess I was just... um... "over emotional" we'll call it. LOL!!! As for the horrid wisdom teeth... ugh.. Those where a bugar to deal with.
So I got the spacers in around 4:20 or so and it's 10 something now and still no pain. I did take some advill before I left but I'm pretty sure that should have worn off by now, right? Hmmm... either I'm one of the lucky few who won't get pain with spacers or it's going to hit me like a ton of bricks tomorrow. I'm hoping for the first option.
