Well It's going really well !! I have had a few headaches and have avoided eating food, which is good because I need to loose 2 stone! Drinking water is very soothing so I'm drinking loads of ice water.

I made potato & leek soup so I'm not starving!!

WAX is my new best friend !

You are so right... I was so hungry yesterday, my head was splitting !!

I came home from work and made the soup.

Today I drank some juice at work and loads of water. I made it through my work day much better. I then came home and ate more soup.

Each day it's better. I'm also getting better at brushing and flossing and putting the wax on my teeth.

I went to work today and I didn't tell anyone that I got braces. I work in sales and was in the office for the morning. I'm usually quite talkitive and espressive. I was just quiet, but so hungry... my teeth were killing me and I couldn't eat a thing. I did got out and get a smoothie which was so good, but the bits of fruit get stuck everywhere, YUCK. A swish of water loosens that stuff up right away.

One challange that I'm finding is talking, the hooks from the brackets get stuck and people on the other end (phone conversation) notice that my speech sounds different. Now it's all about the wax!!!

I can't believe it ! I have broken off a bracket !!

I've only had my braces 4 days and already a broken one....

Here I'm eating soups because my mouth is feeling real rough. The plan -- I fry 2 strips of bacon, use the drippings to cook some leeks and throw in veggies, cook well, then use a hand blender to make into a smooth soup.

Then as I am cooking the leeks I decide I could eat a bite of the crispy bacon, because I'd chew in the back and being crisp, it would break up ... nope ... I'm an idiot ! I'm chewing away and CLICK ... I broke off a bracket ! Lower, right side!

  So I've broke off a bracket !!

I am horrified!

So what now ?
Call my Ortho on Monday ?

Thanks Tim and Denise....

No poking so far. The bracket is still sitting right where it was, just loose and no longer attached to my tooth.

I'll call his office Monday.
I'm over being embarrassed!
I need to take care of business and get on with it. Being Damon brackets my next appointment is in 8 weeks so I have to get this fixed so everything is on track when I get back there in March.

I took some photos the other day so I'll work on them to crop off my face and will try to get one posted.

They look great, congrats!

Don't be embarrassed about a loose or popped off bracket, it happens all the time! My ortho said it happens most with folks who still insist on biting into hard foods, but when it happens within a week or 2 of being braced, it was most likely a surface that wasn't bonded securely.

One of my brackets popped off in the 2nd week after I got braced (I thought it was funny, it just kind of slid along the archwire, LOL), and the ortho fixed it the next day in about 15 min.

Take care and hang in there,
Christy

Thanks Christy,

You are right about it just sliding along the wire.

I'll call him tomorrow and have it fixed.

Grl,

He first said 12 months. Then because I wanted the Ice brackets on my front 6 teeth, he said it could lean toward 14 months. I'm going to think of it as 14 months so if it ends up being 12, I can be thrilled to bits over it ending so soon! :D

Yesterday, Saturday, I had to run some errands and stopped by 2 stores. Everywhere I went, I had to talk to people and smile, etc... And any other time, I'd almost be invisible... run in and pick up a few items... but yesterday, everywhere I went, I ran into someone I knew or the friendly people at the store would start talking to me. It was very hard on the inside of my mouth.

Today I was home and did laundry, typed on computer, watched TV, drank tea, went for a walk, --- basically did not move my mouth at all.

I just realized that by being home with my 3 little dogs, my mouth is doing much better! :D :D

Tomorrow, I'll be back at work, talking and smiling, but for today, just resting my mouth has been so good.

I have to get the bracket that popped off corrected, so I might beg off half a day from work, which will let me build up to talking all day.

I think that is my Plan A -- take half day off tomorrow !!

My estimate is 12 months too.

Yesterday I went shopping with my girlfriend and our 5 year old daughters. I went into my favorite shoe store and I was being discrete with my mouth and my shoe guy asked me if I was OK. I was being totally self conscious about my braces. If I didn't know him from Adam, I would have acted normal, weird huh...

I think the my upper teeth are hitting some lower brackets, my ortho checked this when I left on Thursday and it was fine, but now I'm getting nervous. The assistant thought that I may need a bumper (maybe that's either a molar buildup or bite turbos) also, my wire is sticking out upper right molar tube and it's killing me and I definitely need it snipped. I'm sure I'll be at the ortho tomorrow or Tuesday sometime.

I think that you should take half a day. I find that talking alot is hard on the teeth and cheeks. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.
