I wish I could have kept my wisdom teeth when they took them out, that would have been cool to check them out! But I'm so happy for you now you get braces in a MONTH! That's so crazy, it's right around the corner for you!!! I've been kinda MIA on this thread lately but I get an email everytime someone posts on something I've posted in so I'm still following everything that your going through, and it sounds like you've had a few ups and downs, but it will all be worth it soon!!! (Honestly I'm so glad I don't need spacers, I have a greater respect for people that get them) lol :-**
Lol well anyways I hope the sockets heal up quick so you can go back to eating lots of ice cream!!!

Mine hurt coming out (had a huge spike on it) and I had my hand up wagging it about everywhere and he IGNORED me and kept going!!! I'm 2nd guessing going back there to be honest. He got kind of mad at me because I tried to talk when he wouldn't acknowledge my hand waving.

Hope the taste goes away soon! I hate that blood flavour :(

OK i just had some lemon pudding mashed up heaps with some milk. NOW i can see (least i think it is) pudding stuck in my extraction holes!! i have rinsed with salt water, just by moving my head and letting the water go into the holes, not full on moving my mouth like a proper rinse cos i am not meant to do that, and SOME IS STILL THERE AND DIDNT COME OUT :(

I really should of looked at my holes BEFORE i ate the pudding cos the pudding is the same colour as the scab thing that heals on the holes. WHITE... what am I going to do? i cant get it out and i dont want to pick at it incase it is meant to be there and isnt food.

I am going to do another mouth rinse in a minute but I am freaking out! lol

Yay it went well! Great! I'll get you the soup recipe when i am home, hopefully tomorrow. It actually had chunks of potatoes in it but hey were real soft. I thought while I was eating it that it would be a good braces food... maybe. What do I know yet? Ha

Maybe you can watetpik, that food out from a distance so it won't be so powerful? Again, I don't know anything about my waterpik yet either so that could be a horrible idea!

Yeah, he has good days and bad days. Doesn't speak a whole lot of English so you don't get much of an explanation of anything. I think he's a good dentist, just no bedside manner.......but I'm seriously thinking about it. It didn't help my dental phobia AT ALL!

Glad the blood taste has gone!

Hmm with the pockets, what about REALLY gently dabbing them a bit with dry tissue. If there's food stuck there hopefully it will stick to the tissue but if not hopefully no damage will be done. Unless the pits are ginormous I doubt food would get stuck in them that wouldn't come out with a rinse. I had a back molar out once (a big one) and don't recall anything getting stuck (that being said I only recall it being pulpy red until it healed over too, never white).

Hey so I had the same things happening to me when I got my wisdom teeth taken out. Try taking a squirt bottle and directly (but gently) spraying right into the hole and if there is any food it should come out. Also call your office and tell then what's up and they might have an answer for you. Or they could even provide you with a seringe type thing. I got one when my wisdom teeth came out. Don't freak out just call them, they do this for a living and I'm sure they can help you :)

Hi Everyone

OK.. I THINK my freak out was for nothing. lol. I thought to myself if I wake up in pain today then something is wrong, BUT i am feeling ok, bit of a dull ache still but i think that is to be expected on day 3 of extractions? all holes seem to have a greyish brownish whiteish puss stuff on them, and the gums surrounding dont look red or anything so I am assuming all is well and they are healing properly. I am mainly thinking of any pain cos they say if you have dry sockett you will know by the agnonizing pain you will be in and that is not me, although its only day 3 as i said but my boyfriend said they seem fine so I will just go with it lol.

I have not eaten ANY more food that has "bits" that could get stuck. I have just stuck to custard, icecream and fruit puree as I am so scared to eat anything else cos i dont want bits of food to get in the holes... OH and i had KFC potato and gravy last night and OH MY GOD WHAT A LIFE SAVER lol. I am going to eat that for dinner again tonight. YUM! lol if only i could dip a bread roll or chips in it like I normally would hahhaah!

I am even still to scared to talk properly or swallow like i normally would as the lower left hole i feel suction in if i talk or swallow so i dont want to disturb it, and with the lingual arch nance button it is hard to talk as it is! i hope that i feel more comfortable to talk on tuesday cos that is when i am back at work! :(

anyway i just wanted to say THANK YOU for everyones advice and for coming to my help when i had a melt down freak attack lol. I am sure there will be more to come, but thank you and I just want these holes to heal!

How long will it take until the holes are at least filled over with gum? (i know the bone and stuff inside needs to heal but i just want the holes gone! SO I CAN EAT NORMAL! lol.

does anyone know?

thanks again, :) :) :flowerbloom: :GapToothed: :-**

I'm glad you're not in pain today. Sounds to me like everything is on the track it should be one.

potato and gravy from KFC is genius! I know what I'm having next adjustment!!!

Not sure on how long holes take to heal up. My back molar I had extracted if I recall only took a couple of days and my latest one was a baby tooth so I was eating that day. The pulpy feeling went away after about 48 hours. I wouldn't imagine it would take longer than 5 or 6 days for it to heal over enough to be chewing though (or I could be completely off there!)

Glad you are doing better and less stressed!! Here is that Cream of potato soup I promised. For some of you, the measurements may be different (like not everyone uses "pounds")

Cream of Potato Soup
(Serves 4-6)

8 strips of bacon (for garnish)
2 pounds potatoes, washed, peeled & cubed
3 cups water
½ cup onions, finely chopped
6 tablespoons butter
6 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
2 cups chicken broth
¼ teaspoon granulated garlic
¼ teaspoon pepper
¾ teaspoon salt
2 cups cheddar cheese (divided, 1 cup garnish)

Chop bacon into half-inch pieces, fry until crispy. Drain on a paper towel.

In a large pot, add water, 1 cup broth, and potatoes. Boil until tender. Drain and reserve the potato water. Set aside.
Melt butter in a large sauce pan. Add onions and cook until softened. Mix in the flour. Add 3 cups of the potato water, milk and remaining chicken broth. Boil and stir until thickened.

Stir in 1 cup cheese. Add garlic, pepper, and salt. Add potatoes and simmer for 5 minutes on low. Adjust seasoning.

Garnish: bacon, cheese, green onions, chives, and/or sour cream

Well I don't have my braces yet but I will in exactly a week! I wanted to try mine out before i had braces. I think they must work pretty good because everyone is always talking about them on here. It definately feels like it would work... shooting the water right thru your spaces.
