Hi Braced32!!

OMG, I'm such a blonde! I wrote that I was coming here to give you a "push" and then totally forgot....duh! I think I just checked to see if there was any new posts but forgot to post something myself. Sometimes I wonder how I get through the day.....?

Anyway, on to more important things...LOVE THE PICS!! Your uppers look terrific! Sorry to hear they're more annoying. My sister had ceramics on her uppers and, unfortunately, she had to use wax constantly. Hopefully you'll get used to them soon.

Haha!! I laughed when you said I paid it for eye candy and I expect my eye candy at EVERY visit!!!. My ortho is no eye candy so at least you get some most of the time you're there(bummer about the dad though). As far as the excess glue, when I had some in between two teeth, it wasn't a problem to remove but I do remember someone saying if it's on the tooth it's harder because it can cause the "seal" to break and the bracket to pop off....hopefully I'm wrong and just dreamt this! I have extra glue on two of my bottom teeth and if you look closely, my tooth looks blue!! :yikes: (Hey, it wants to match my MBU!)

Alright, I think I've taken up enough room in your journal. I must go deal with children and a messy house...chat later! :-1
Keep smilin'! :)

Too funny Blondie!

Actually the ceramics are rougher and bigger and my lip gets caught on them but they are not causing any sores (anymore). I haven't used any wax at all on the ceramics. It's my upper metal molar brackets that are causing me sores and those bare wires over my extraction sites!

After 36 hours of extreme discomfort after my uppers were braced, I finally put straws over the wires. (I wish I would have done it sooner - not sure why I didn't. I guess I was trying to just use wax.) By Sunday, I had my mouth pretty much healed up! So I decided to not put the straws on during the day. I thought if I just put straws over the wires during the night, like I do on my lower arch, I'd be fine. But that is/was NOT the case. By Sunday evening I had a mouth full of sores again!! And I was away from home so I couldn't put straws in!!!

I no longer need to wear a straw on my upper right wire but I have to keep my upper left wire covered 24/7 (in my last pic above, the straw is really noticeable). My lower wires are covered only overnight.

I used a whole container of wax in a week!!!

My left cheek is swollen from the sores and me repeatedly biting it when I chew!! Eating is not fun! It's darn right painful! :soremouth:

I should probably do regular warm salt water rinses. I did some the first day or two and then gave it up!

Yep, thank goodness for my eye candy! It makes me look forward to my adjustments! :D

Bummer about the excess glue. I guess I'm stuck with it for the next two years!

Hey, take the color where you can. If no ligs, then colored MBUs and and glue! :)

Tell me again -
Why am I doing this???

Hi Braced,

I've been meaning to pop-over and things have been so crazy on my end!!! Your teeth look great! How are things going? The molar brackets suck, don't they!!! Sorry that they're being such a pain :( !!! I started having issues with them too, the hooks keep digging into my cheeks so I'm sporting wax(again), using rincinol and using peroxyl as well. It definitely helps!

I totally got a laugh when Dad placed your braces and didn't have eye candy and that's what you were paying for. Too funny  !!!

Got to run,

B

OK - as usual, I'm behind in updating! So I had my 3rd adjustment last Monday. I took pics right away but never got time to post as we went on vacation Wed and got back last night (Sun). I'm hoping to get them up in the next day or two (fingers are crossed).

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I did not encounter too much pain after this adjustment. I figured I'd be in agony being we were on vacation but that didn't happen!

Check back soon.........

Hi. I was so glad to find your story. I have a lot of missing teeth too and was worried about how this was going to work.

Image

I have two lateral incisors missing, all 4 wisdom teeth (third molars), all 4 of my second molars, and 3 of my first molars. That leaves me with all of my premolars (even though the bottom ones need crowns) and one first molar on my top right. That tooth is banded and I have metal brackets on all the rest. I just got them July 29, 2008.

Image

I'm wearing a partial plate on the bottom to "support my bite" as he says. Crowns come later.

What intrigued me is that your dentist did your bottoms first and then your tops. Did he give a reason why he would do it separately? As you see, only my top teeth have been done.

Hi crystalct1 ~

Thanks for visiting!

Sounds like we're in the same boat! :)

I've asked my ortho and I never really got a clear answer why he did my lowers first. To me it made more sense to do my uppers first. As soon as we have enough room (which should be pretty soon), he'll put two false teeth on brackets and put them in next to my two front teeth so I don't have to go through the rest of the process looking like a chipmunk! :)

Will you be having implants done? Any extractions? Hopefully soon I'll get time to check out your story - if you have one posted.
