Haha same. Every time I get new wires I have something alcoholic. It really does help.
You should start to feel better about your braces in a few weeks. It took me a while too.

You can really start to see the shape of you teeth now. They're going to look great!

Broken bracket!

#32 Post by Chippy3000 »

The inevitable has happened!

I went to dinner with my boyfriend for his birthday and I ate sweet potato fries. One bit was too crispy and my bracket rebounded. It then managed to flip it's self over so the cement side was facing outwards and cutting into my cheek! I've managed to get it back where it should be and have used wax to stop it flying all over the place!

Annoyinglu, I had severe sensitivity to cold this week so I might mention that at the rebinding. Hopefully work won't mind me leaving early.

Nice progress so far! Your teeth are moving really fast :)

How long do you need to wear your braces?

Update month 3

#36 Post by Chippy3000 »

Hi everyone!

So I'm up to 0.018 on top and still 0.016 on bottom. I went to see my dentist after my bracket broke off she just removed it so I had this really annoying gap in my braces and food kept getting stuck in it. They attached a new one two weeks later, they had to re bond it three times because it just wouldn't engage without moving. One of my canines need to rotate but I thought that wouldn't be achieved with thicker wires? Progress pics:

Hi everyone!

So I am now in rectangular archwires and I tentatively have only 6 weeks to go! I have one more appointment to discuss if I'm happy with everything or if something needs adjusting but I'm almost there! I'm a bit worried about relapse but I'll ask her about that at the next meeting! One side still needs to tip a bit but I hear rectangular wires are the way to go!

Three Weeks To Go!!

#42 Post by Chippy3000 »

Three weeks to go! Just tweaking one of my canines as it needs to rotate. Starting to really worry about retention. Should be getting fixed and removable retainers. Eep.

Power chain is torture...

#43 Post by Chippy3000 »

Update!

Nearing the end! My appointments are now ten days apart which is great because I have been wearing a power chain for two days and my god the pain. It's the same level of pain as week 1 in braces. Seriously. So the bottoms are basically there and we have a few tweaks on top. She put some hefty bends to bring my canine forward. Eep.

(Pics make it look like I have an overbite/overjet but it's just a poor pic)

I love the shape of your teeth! Your teeth have moved pretty fast over a short period! :D At what adjustment did the orthodontist change your wires? I can see a big difference in your bottom teeth positioning. I'm hoping to get an opposite effect and bring my front bottom teeth up! I'm going to show my orthodontist these pictures and tell him I want teeth like this! LOL

Thank you so much! I had my first wire change 2 months in and then went up gradually to the square ones in month 4 I think. My bottoms has gone down a wire with the power chain to allow some mobility.

I am super excited. I spent so much of my life hating my smile and now I can't stop!

I hope your treatment goes well! :)
