Got home and made the mistake of eating coleslaw with my mashed potato....it got stuck EVERYWHERE and while I was brushing my teeth (holy moly I didn't realise brushing would be so hard) a bit of white cabbage came out and I *genuinely* thought a huge bit of my tooth had come out. I am not a smart lady sometimes! Anyway, here's a pic of them! My ortho nearly fell off his stool when he suggested white/silver bands for the metal arch and I was like "hell no, get me some colour on here!". Apparently most 'grown ups' dont go for them....
No major pain yet but I can already feel my mouth becoming shredded and my teeth are clearly peeved at being moved so I think tomorrow morning might be a bit bleak!

Congratulations on getting started, I bet you are glad that part is over? You will see the arch wire getting straighter really quickly which is great encouragement so keep taking plenty of photos to remind you of progress.
The first few days are a little strange and teeth cleaning seems to take forever, it will get quicker with practice but still will end up being quite a ritual. I found the small interdental brushes great for getting to those hard to reach spots and others love their water pick.
Coloured ligs is definitely the way to go, plenty to choose from in the months ahead!
Thought I'd share some of my week 7 progress pictures! (Sorry for the potato quality, I'm still so bad at taking teeth pics!) I can't believe how much they've moved already! Pretty bummed to have to wait another 6 months for my extractions though, I dread to think how ridiculous my overjet is going to look by then

That's really great progress, just look how straight the wire is now. Are you getting used to them? At least your overjet will be temporary (and an added incentive to have the extractions).
Some fantastic movement in just a few weeks based on these pics - is it just me or does every other adult brace wearer get really excited when they see teeth aligning and moving even if its not their own?
Aw thanks guys! I had my second adjustment 2 weeks ago and took some pictures the day after - they moved me to a bigger wire on top and had to put these plastic wedge things by my bottom front teeth because they're being so stubborn!

The tops ones are straightening out nice and easy!

Wow your upper teeth improved....looking great. Please keep updating us with pics . Very interesting!!!! I am only in my second month on braces no visible movements yet.
Congrats on having such great progress! I love looking back on my progress pictures. I feel much more confident now even with braces on than I did before with bad teeth! Good luck with the rest of your treatment!
