Consult to braces in 24 hours

#1 Post by ArchimedesDeathray »

So I had my first consult for braces today. I loved the office and got a reasonable to quote. Approximately 4,500 for metal braces and 5,000 for ceramic and Invisalign. I also, to my surprise, do not need extractions. I got pictures and laser molds done today too. When I went to schedule my bracing the lady was like "Can you come in at 10 tomorrow, we have a cancellation." I almost feel like this is happened too fast!

I haven't even decided if I want metal or ceramic braces. Any thoughts?

I'll post again tomorrow, it'll almost be like a big reveal, even to myself! :D Although maybe not because I don't seem to be able to post pics? I'll figure it out eventually.

I have clear on top and metal on bottom and LOVE them. I'm really glad I didn't get all metal, even though it wouldn't have been the end of the world they would just be more noticeable. But I'm glad I have metal on the bottom because they are more durable and easier for the ortho to manipulate.

Good luck with your appointment!!! You'll be able to post pictures once you've made a certain number of posts (7 or so).

•Deband November 11, 2015
•Permanent retainer top and bottom
•Essix retainers top and bottom 16 hr/day for a year and then nightly afterwards.

Here's my treatment plan:
Diagnosis class 1 skeletal
Class 2 dental malocclusion
50% overbite.

I'll be in braces for 18-24 months.

I ended up choosing metal traditional braces. I've been braces for over a day now and it's still hard to eat. But to be honest when I'm not eating the braces don't hurt all. Flossing was an ordeal though.

Once I hit seven posts I'll post my pre and post bracing pictures.

Here's my before picture and the picture immediately after banding. I don't go back for ten weeks and the assistant said my teeth will have moved a lot within those 10 weeks and will be straight in six months. I'm so excited! I'm 24 and I've been dreaming of this since I was 11. :jump:

My mouth hurts pretty bad but I've been trying to make myself chew a meal at least once a day. Thats sounds so weird. I also have so many mouth ulcers. Dental wax is my best friend right now :D

I was told six months until straight teeth, too! Isn't it incredible we live most of our lives with crooked teeth and they can be straightened in just six months?? Of course, then the bite has to be fixed and all that but at least the teeth look straight in the meantime!

So I've been braced for a little over a month and here's my progress! Sorry they're not all at the same angle it's so hard to make each picture the same. The top photos are the one month progress and the bottom photos are brace day.

Congrats. And yes your teeth should be straight really fast and then it'll all be waiting for the bite and jaw work. Congrats on your decision and good luck!
