Last night I was minding my own business reading a book when suddenly there was a terrible taste in my mouth.... one of my extraction site (and not the one I was complaining about early) started to bleed. For no reason! I put in some gauze and slept in in last night so hopefully that took care of the problem.
Now I'm afraid to sneeze and I'm afraid to blow my nose. Hopefully that doesn't happen while I'm at work!
Hi ...I had a dry socket once...(the day before my wedding mind you ) and it hurt like the holy mother of hell herself. So.....keep a close eye on those babies and if you start sweating from the pain...call the dentist. Good luck!!
If God wanted me to have straight teeth, he would have made my parents rich..or so I was told....
jensceana73 how terrible! I hope you got it taken care of before the BIG day! I hear that if you go into the dentist what he does relieves the pain almost immediately. Though I have been fortunate (knock on wood ) to have 18 teeth pulled over the years and to not have gotten dry socket yet. (knock on wood again for good measure )
It's not really painful, just weird and sometimes annoying and uncomfortable. Like I have a nerve exposed and it is SUPER sensitive.
I did call the dentist today about the bleeding last night and they said that it was probably ok but that if it happened again they would get me right in.
I'm surprised at how sensitive my back molars are. Mind you they are bracketed but not wired yet. They are not as sensitive as my front six that are actually wired but they are sometimes sensitive and I'm wondering if its because they no longer have as much pressure on them from the teeth that have been pulled. Either that or the feeling is just radiating from the extraction sites to the near by teeth and causing them to be sensitive.
Either way I'm not looking forward to my full wire at this point. Though at the same time I can't wait cause I know it will make my treatment go faster!
I've HAD IT! One week without normal food is more than anyone should have to deal with. So I promptly went out and bought a cheesburger and fries for dinner. HA!
I must say that between the braces last Wednesday and the extractions last Friday I've just been really nervous about putting anything into my mouth that wasn't easily swallowed or disolved. But NOT today!
Round One with the Cheesburger:
It really hurt to bite into, but the more I ate the better it got. Seems I vaguely remembering my ortho saying something about chewing and it getting better if I did it more often.
It is super hard to bite into anything when you have six teeth... GIANT gap...then molars, however it is doable.
Keep a bottle of water near by becase drinking swishing a bit and swollowing really takes care of a lot of the debris in the front. Which makes me feel better that I will be able to eat in public again!
I do have two teeth that keep hitting together (one on top and one on bottom) that are quite painful when they meet but I think it's because the bottom one is twisted in such a way that it is striking between the top two and pushing on them apart. But I'm confident it will not always be this way.
So needless to say Alone in my room with no witnesses, I successfully ate a cheeseburger and a small order of fries with minimal pain. WHOO HOO!
By the way the fries were no big deal because I could just feed them in back to my molars which are bracketed but not wired yet.
Now I'm off to brush and clean and get them sparkly again!
I'm so jealous you got a cheeseburger...I'd do just about anything for one right now....ANYTHING Closest thing I've been to meat since my braces...would be a hot dog..and we all know what those things are made of.
Good luck at your 1st adjustment!!
