Katie and the braces!

#1 Post by Katarina527 »

Hey everyone! I am so glad this site exists! My story is similar to lots of stories, I went to my doctor to see if I could get some kind of retainer because I noticed at night my teeth on the left side of my mouth were always sore and rubbing on each other, and the two next to my front teeth were starting to jut out. I had already had braces in 9th grade, and when he told me he couldn't fix the problem with a retainer, and that the teeth rubbing were taking off my enamel, well, that was all it took to get me back into braces at 44!! So, I opted for ceramic on top, and metal on the bottom. I have to say, I was a bit sore, but not really to bad. I used wax for a couple of days on the bottom. Yesterday was my first adjustment, and he didn't do anything to the top, but I had wire ties put on the bottom to start rotation. Next time he will put a heavier wire on top and maybe bottom, and more wire ties on bottom. I have to say, I was quite excited at first to get them on, because I can't wait to have super straight teeth! I will wear those retainers for the rest of my life this time, because I don't want to go through it again, but I am happy with my decision. :-#)
