Hi Guys, a bit blue today, had 3 mouth ulcers since having my thicker wires, wax helps but due to the size of the ulcers and them being plum over my front teeth im having to use alot of wax right up the front, just to stop the rawness of the ulcer gratin on the front brackets.

Also last night i was chowing down on some garlic bread and my new wire popped out my rear right lower bracket, so i have about 3 cms or wire not attached to anything.

Going orthos in a couple of hours to see about getting it popped back in again.

At least its nearly the weekend.

Moan Moan Moan, yadda yadda yadda, ok im over it!

Well let me join the club! "Moan, yadda":

I, too, have had an ulcer this week on my lower lip due to a wire tie that decided to poke its way through the inside of my lip several times because that tooth rotated. Ok, ok, that's the intended movement. Back to using loads of wax. And my lip, well, it looks like I've had an injection or 2 of Botox. Between the amount of wax and swollen lip; not too attractive!

But, I've had wonderful tooth rotation and movement these past 3 months. It's been years since I've been able to properly brush those lower teeth. And my bite is better than ever with the crossbite almost non-existent! So, I'll put up w/these small inconveniences for the bigger reward and hope to have a winning smile some day!

Hope all of you are doing great......

Ok so i got a quick appointment yesterday to have my popped out lower wire put back in, so i get there sit in the chair and Mr Watkinson my ortho says "your teeth have moved alot since it was last on, so we can go a thicker wire"

Great, and wow, 2 weeks since the wire had gone on i was being bumped up to the next wire. In the last 3 weeks ive gone from thin wire, medium wire and now thick wire.

This was good right up to the point he hooks it onto the teeth, and yeah its a thick wire, so tension was high and immediate. Not got any pain at the moment but it cant be far away.

I have notice that my lower teeth have all become uncrossed, which is great to see, but what i have noticed is they are now different heights. Im sure this thick wire will take care of that though.

Also, areas where the teeth had overlapped and were touching is marked, like an impression of where the 2 teeth had been in contact for all those years, its not something i can brush off, so i would imagine the marks would need to be removed with somethign a little stronger. surface to surface missile, bazooka or a moon mounted lazer!

Its friday im in a good mood, all is well....

Wow jumping up to the thick stuff so soon! Hope it doesn't give you too much pain! I can totally relate about the ulcers! My molar bands and the wires sticking out caused such big ulcers the ortho prescribed some "magic" mouth rinse that completely numbed the ulcer.

TGIF! I have adj #2 coming up in 4 days can't wait! Hope your weekend is good!

so cool that you're having that much progress, I've noticed some tartar showing on a tooth of mine that's uncrossed, gonna go to the hygienist in a few weeks and get that cleaned off! I've never been so excited about having tartar!! :D

Any chance of a progress photo? the new hardware ones are at confusing angles to compare

Wow Martin. It's been a while since I checked in on everyone and you have made some great progress. Your teeth look fabulous. They've moved and lined up so well already! That spring looks painful though. I hope that hasnt been too hard to handle. And with the brackets in the back... I can relate. I had quite a bit of trouble with those stupid things. They ended up banding my back teeth. I had lost all four of the very back brackets they had put on there to begin with.... very irritating. I'm glad you're doing well and staying positive. Everything is lookin real good bud! :D

Hi Martin,
Good idea about the brace video- its handy to see what they actually do in there.....
and they are so quick with the equipment twisting pulling etc..... I do wonder if they make it up as they go along.
I am in the process of writing my own story... with pics- just need to get them resized. It was a nightmare taking phots as they kept coming out blury....
I also live in uk- in Bristol..... its good to know there are others out there with a brace.... as I have not yet met any face to face...LOL
take care..... keep us updated with your progress....

Just a question- how long was it before you noticed any big movement in your teeth....?

Hi Everybody.

Its been a while since my last post and i do apologise. Yesterday was my third official adjustment (4th actual) and i had quite a bit done and had some more photos taken at the orthos office so decided to recap on the last month or so.

Last time i went to the orthos office i had to have a thicker wire popped in. I thought this might fix the wire poppin out the bracket problem as it seemed incredibley thick and strong. and yet about a week or so later, i noticed it had popped out again. This time it wasnt long until my appointment and it wasnt hurting me so i left it until then

Then a couple of days later i was eating some cadburys double chocolate and i noticed a crunchy bit, thought it was a bit odd, and then it dawned on me, "oh crap, its my bracket" after carefully navigating a mouth of chocolate with my tongue a eventually found it and washed it. It had come off my upper left back tooth. At least it matches the other side.

So yesterday in i go. This time there was no replacement bracket, oh no, the 2 troubles teethies were getting banded. Now in hindsite the bands are great, cant tell ive got them in to be honest. I was a little curious how you push a ring on a tooth that is touching another tooth, the answer is. he pushes it really hard until its on. Few dabs of superglue and your laughing again. My archedwire doesnt yet reach all the way back to the new rings yet, but Mr Watkinson wants to prioritise the moving of my canine to make space for my lateral incisor. AKA the Nemesis Tooth!

I will be much happier when he gets invited to the party, and joins the rest in the newly forming perfect arch.

Ive just fished out my very first consult photos, and compared them against the photos i had taken yesterday. I had them taken on my first visit, which was nearly a whole year ago already. Doesnt time fly!!

Martin, fantastic photos! Your "Nemesis tooth" will surely come into play soon with that spring hard at work. Do you have two wires? I see from the front that it is white, but the underside of it seems like regular metal color. Have I gone mad?

HI Miss Smiley, No youve not gone mad, and no theres only one wire, but it is white coloured on the front to compliment the Ceramic brackets. You can only see if because of the angle of the photograph.

Cant wait to get that lil tooth out of what feels like the roof of my mouth :S

Fast reply miss smiley, you in the UK?

No, I'm in Los Angeles, CA in the USA... I'm just a late sleeper over here. I was actually thinking of going to London this summer with my old painting/photography professor and his wife, but seeing how the US dollar is really weak, I think I'll take a pass on it for the time being. Anthony Metcalf's studio will have to wait.

I had a wayward molar and once it went into line, it was weird at first and I couldn't stop running my tongue around. Now it just feels natural, I wouldn't have it any other way. You'll see too!
