I am so happy to report my braces will be removed at 10am on the 22nd of February.
This morning, I went in for my final adjustment.

I admit I bit into a piece of steak the other day and broke a bracket.

UGH! Well, one of the top teeth shifted in just a few days. The tech said she would reapply the bracket and that we could still take the impressions for my retainers. I'm supposed to continue wearing the rubber bands until I receive my retainers on the 22nd February.
Many years ago, I had "spring retainers" to fix a few minor problems. When I had the impressions then, I can't tell you how disgusting the taste was and how messy the process was. Well today, it was smoother than I could ever have imagined. The tech put putty into the trays like normal. The taste was not bad at all. I just kept telling myself to breathe so I wouldn't gag.
After reapplying the bracket and putting on a new arch wire, they sent me on my way.
I did find out for certain I would be getting the traditional Hawley retainers. This is fine. From what I remember before, they take some practice in speaking but the wire is not very noticeable. I remember making clicking sounds with many words in the beginning. "K's" were especially tricky.
I'm planning on bringing my digital camera to the final appointment so they can take pictures. I've never mastered getting them clear as so many of the other members have on this message board.
I plan on eating a candy apple, raw carrot, and caramel they day they are removed.
All! What are some of the things you will eat the minute your braces are removed? I’m just curious. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Todd
