sensitive toothpaste??

#1 Post by BraceUrself »

Can we still use sensitive toothpaste after having the braces put on? I am sure this has been asked somewhere, but I can't find the answer & I'd really like to know cause I have sensitive teeth. TIA for your answers :D

I asked my dentist and she said that it was not a problem. But I alternate between regular Crest and Sensodyne--just for a change. :)

I tried using 2 kinds of Sensodyne before I got braces and all it left in my mouth was this sticky, nasty, slimy mess within minutes of brushing. I continued on using it anyways, to see if it would help my sensitive teeth, but after a month, nothing was different. The ortho gave me Colgate Total, and that has worked really well for me so far... so that's what I use now.

I don't see why you couldn't use sensitive toothpaste though. It's not going to harm anything.

Sensodyne left me with the same white, slimy mess that TuZZi encountered. I'm using Crest Sensitivity (the mild mint) and haven't had this problem since.

I never asked my Orthodontist if I could continue to use it because my life will be  if I had to stop. If he would want me to switch, I'd rather not know...it ain't gonna happen.
