What toothpaste do you use?

#1 Post by Lizzie365 »

I've been using Oral-B pro expert, and haven't had any problems with it until a few weeks ago.

Whenever I use it, the inside of my mouth seems to 'shred'. The skin just peels off, and I'd wake up in the morning with bits of dead skin along my gum line. Or after brushing my teeth in the morning and I'm at work I can feel the skin loosening and just peeling. However this only happens on one side of my mouth.

I have since switched to a Colgate toothpaste and now my mouth is fine.

Am I the only one that's experienced this?

Boost do a special orthodontic toothpaste which is a bit thicker than normal toothpaste. I have been using that and it seems OK

I have not personally experienced that with any of the toothpastes I have used.

I did start off using Sensodyne toothpaste when I first got braced. For months and months now I just buy the Colgate Triple Cool Stripe.
Braces: Metal fixed upper and lower
Estimated treatment time: 18-24 months
Braces Removed: August 2013 (after 33 months in braces)
Retainers: Upper & lower essix and lower bonded

I've been using Colgate Total because it is the one that the ortho gave me the day I was braced. It seems to be working fine.
Maybe the pro one you were using was too strong for your gums?

I use arm and hammer baking soda tooth paste, and I love it. The dentist always says my teeth look great

I used Sensodyne, non-whitening. I was shocked how white my teeth remained after my brackets were removed. Will go back to Sensodyne with whitening.

I use a mix. I usually use crest 3D white and Colgate total. Really they're all the same.

I use listerine mouthwash every morning and night after flossing. Only the non alcohol one gave me dead skin and a dry mouth. Everyone complains about the alcohol being terrible because it hurts, but they don't understand.

My ortho assistant said no whitening toothpaste, so I shopped for Sensodyne without whitener and plain old fluoride Colgate. I use the Sensodyne 2x a day and the Colgate 1x.

Colgate for kids (watermelon flavor). I liked crest pro health but my mouth was peeling off and I ended up having a reaction to cinnamon. Then I switched to pronamel but within minutes my mouth would become so dry to the point I would drink water like crazy. It also gave me some metallic taste and numbness on the tip of my tongue. I then tried sensodyne and gave me sores. I even tried some organic ones, but it seems like every time there is mint in it, I end up either with mouth dryness or sores. Kids toothpastes have worked best so far. If other people have persistent dryness, I highly recommend switching to kids toothpaste. So far I have tried colgate and Tom's for kids and both are great.

Usually it’s Crest Pro Health. But Twice is pretty good too. A little messier, but not as strongly minty.

Tom’s of Maine fluoride free toothpaste. The municipal water treatment plant already adds fluoride to the water in some cities . Fluoride is poisonous, why do people think it’s a good idea to water our lawns and gardens with this added to the water? Just a thought...
