Hey, well all toothpastes have some whitening in them. My dentist who knew I was getting braces gave me whitening toothpaste by colgate, the Colgate Total Paste. My dentist is a cosmetic dentist so I doubt they would have given me that kind knowing it would stain so you should be good. I think it mainly helps prevent new stains and helps keep the teeth really clean. You should be good to use it. I do.

Thank you so much for the info.
I was hesitating myself because my ortho. assistant told me to not do that, but then i was reading from somewhere that the toothpaste itself doesn't have that much whitening ingredients that could actually WHITEN teeth.
But hearing this from you makes me feel for comfortable doing it.

Thank you so much!

Your very welcome. Yeah I go to the dentists in Boston that went to Harvard at the top of their class so just know you can deinfatly do that with braces ;) Yeah there isnt enough whitening to actually whiten the teeth it just prevents the new stains from happening. Don't worry you should be fine. I mean I brush five times a day with the stuff (Im a piggy nad eat a lot through the day  ) LOL

I really don't think any whitening toothpaste works very much. So I wouldn't worry about it.

The previous posts are right. Whitening toothpaste can't whiten your teeth, it can only maintain your natural whiteness and prevent stains. The only true whitening solution is bleaching (either at your dentist ('zooming'?), or stuff you can do at home like Dental White).
My Story — Braced on 2 March 2012. 4 premolar extractions. Ceramic/clear uppers, metal lowers. Duration of 2 years.
Currently: Third adjustment 19 June (all teeth bracketed!)
