Permanent Vs Removable Retainer

I was wondering which type of retainer is more beneficial than the other. I like the permanent one because you can't see it and you don't have to worry about putting and taking it off BUT..... I also heard that they are more likely to cause problems in the future.

Which one would you choose?

I have both. Permanent ones don't enclose teeth and don't prevent all movement from occurring.
