Can retainers fix flaws braces could not?

So, my braces might be coming off in a few weeks but I still think there are a few things that need to be fixed. I don't know if they'll be fixed without another adjustment. I think one of my lateral incisors needs to be rotated just a little bit to match the other, and there is one small gap between two of my teeth.

My orthodontist mentioned that he could fix these things with the retainers. I was wondering if anyone else's orthodontist has done this. I know that my orthodontist no longer uses the gooey impressions to take molds for retainers, and uses some sort of digital scanner called iTero instead, so maybe that will allow him to make adjustments to my teeth even after the braces come off...

I am pretty sure you could close a small gap, but not sure about rotating teeth.

I would question why your ortho would want to fix these issues with retainers when they can do the job far better with the braces you already have?

I personally wouldn't let he/she take my braces off until I was happy. Retainers can move a little. The only thing with retainer movement, is how stable is it? You paid for it, get it right.
