I did exactly what my orthodontist told me not to do and left my retainer on my desk, then stepped on it. The plastic broke cleanly in half right down the middle. Do orthodontists ever repair these things (my grandfather could do it, and he didn't need 20 years of education), or am I looking at an automatic +$350 right now?

If it is a hawley retainer, yes they can be repaired
Sectional brace with Damon clear brackets fitted to front 6 upper teeth 3 January 2012
Brackets added to premolars 2 April 2012
Estimated treatment time originally 6-9 months. Brace removed on 22 July 2013 after 18 months and 19 days
