2 removable hawley retainers afters 2 years full of braces!
Hi everybody! I'm new for this section of the forum. I come here after more than 2 years here: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtop ... =9&t=43404
I've got a serius deep bite problem, with crooked teeth.
My ortho had fitted my mouth with many things during these years: upper and lower clear braces, bite turbos behind incisors, class II elastics, many others kinds and configuration of elastics, upper and lower powerchaines, lower metal braces (in part), lower fixed retainers (splint).
Finally I've got my naked teeth (not perfect I think...) and 2 removable hawley retainers, forever...
I post some pictures of retainers and I wait your opinion. Thanks you!

Hi Concorde
I think your teeth look great. How many hours per day to you have to wear the hawleys? They look pretty robust ( like mine) but that is probably no bad thing if you are going to need them forever ( also like me). Is your speech OK with the hawleys?
All the best
Jem

Your teeth look great!
I also like your Hawley retainers...the color and the construction. I like the fact that the part that goes in the roof of your mouth is more "horseshoe" shaped so it does not take up as much room. I also like the fact that the wire in front of your teeth is "wrapped" in plastic....it makes it look like it would hold your finished results better. I want a Hawley like yours!

Thanks everybody! I've to wear my retainers only during the night, but forever.
The wire in front of retainers, "wrapped" in plastic, is very very confortable. Maybe, after 2 years with the mouth full of braces, elastics, etc., everything could be more confortable! But these retainers are really confortable! Even if it is really impossible to talk normally!
Unluckly the lower one is not enough fix and it is easy to be moved by the tongue. I hope my ortho will be able to fix it next week.
Ciao everybody!

What exactly don't u like about your results. Looks pretty great
Re: 2 removable hawley retainers afters 2 years full of brac
I think the teeth are not enough "open", the mouth is not enough large.
And some teeth are not streight...

I think your smile looks great. Sounds like you've been through a lot
Re: 2 removable hawley retainers afters 2 years full of braces!
Thank you very much! Yes. It has been very hard reach this result, but really it's not the end of the trouble. All my upper teeth included in the retainer are moving far from the 2 teeth behind that are wothout retainer. So now the food goes between the teeth with retainer and the teeth without retainer.
So I need fixed brace again, but I'm discussing with my ortho because I don't want to pay for a new treatment!

Re: 2 removable hawley retainers afters 2 years full of braces!
I had the same thing happen to me with spaces/bite relapse occurring with my then standard hawley retainers, which didn't wrap around all the teeth, thus causing the teeth without the wire to relapse. I was then given wraparound hawley retainers (with an upper palate expander) and it fixed the space problem; we are still working on the bite problem but it looks like I'll always have a posterior open bite, which retainers can't fix u fortunately. Ask your ortho if you can go this route to fix the spaces without braces again.
Re: 2 removable hawley retainers afters 2 years full of braces!
Thank you very much for telling me about the wraparound hawley retainer.
I will ask for sure to my ortho if I can have it. And maybe I also need a retainer with the expander, but for the lower teeth. Even if the ortho told me that in an adult it's unuseful... Do you have a picture of the wraparound retainer and of the retainer with expander?
Thanks a lot!

Thank you very much! I really think that these retainers are the retainers that I need. I will ask about them to my ortho.
Thanks again!
