Teeth whitening after having braces removed?

I am getting my braces removed next Thursday and am really excited about it! I want to get a teeth whitening treatment because my teeth are yellow and stained from drinking too much coffee... I asked my ortho when I could get my teeth whitened after my braces are off he said whenever I want... But I am afraid my teeth will be a little sensitive.

How long did you wait before getting a teeth whitening treatment? What type of procedures would you recommend (I have never gotten it professionally done...) and around how much should I expect to spend?

Does your ortho perform it in his office? That would be my first choice since he knows the condition of your teeth right now and he will be able to tell you. I think when you go professionally, they have more control over where the gel goes so your gums don't get irritated. These treatments are usually around $300- $600. If you are gonna choose strips or a kit like whitening lightning, I would wait at least two weeks because you don't want to overdo it when it comes to your gums. They take like three days to get used to your braces being off. Please post pics when you get your braces off!

Unfortunately my ortho doesn't do teeth whitening!

I will have to contact my dentist I suppose... I really want to get it professionally done, I tried a Crest teeth whitening kit couple of years ago, it was around $50 for the box and I did not notice a significant change...

So I was told by my ortho's assistant that I could get my teeth whitened whenever I want after my braces are removed... However I contacted a dentist's clinic and the receptionist said I should wait a couple of weeks to a month... And it is very important that I get a dental cleaning before I get them whitened...

My ortho also acted like my getting my teeth whitened right after removal won't be a problem. I will be getting my teeth whitened with DaVinci whitenening product in a 60-minute office visit 2 days after I get my braces removed and 1 day after I get them professionally cleaned by my dentist.

Where did you get the box from? The ones they sell in Walmart or drugstores didn't seem to work on me, but I got some kind of "professional grade" Crest whitest rips from the dentist's office. WOWZA. They sure did work, but I had to start doing them 1x a day instead of 2x a day because my teeth got very sensitive. This was pre-braces.

They day after my braces come off, I will get a dental cleaning and then whitened. After spending all that money and time getting them straight you better believe they are gonna be screaming white too !!

I had my teeth whitened right after i had my braces removed. my dentist used a bleaching gel which i took home.. used it for a couple of days, and i really noticed a big change, then i used it for about 2 months total. now, i am totally satisfied and confident with my smile. As you said you have sensitive teeth then you can take advise from any specialist who are giving teeth whitening services. The price of professional whitening teeth is to around $300 to $800.

Part of my treatment package includes whitening. I'm scheduled to have that done the day after my braces come off and my teeth are cleaned. Can't wait!

I had whitening trays made by my ortho, and I buy the syringes of professional strength whitening gel. I started day I got them off.
