Tooth is shifting out of alignment

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Tooth is shifting out of alignment

#1 Post by Marigold »

I have a front bottom tooth that is rotating slightly and I can feel the edge stick out. Has anyone had teeth move after debracing, and what did your ortho do about it? I only have to wear my Essix retainer 1/2 days now but I'm wondering if I should go back to full time. I dread calling my ortho about this.
Class II moderately deep overbite, mild crowding.
Braced on January 19, 2011. Debraced on December 16, 2013.
2 years, 11 months in braces.

If I were you I would contact my ortho asap. If you act quickly it may be possible to get that tooth back into place with a different retainer or full time wear of your current retainer, whereas delaying might mean the tooth moves too far and you could be back into braces. And I would go back to 24/7 wearing of the essix pending seeing the ortho.

Good luck and keep us posted
