Hello all -
After getting my braces off, I now have bulky Essix retainers which appear to be larger than my actual braces ever were (I had regular metal braces for 2.5 years). I can't close my mouth the way I could with braces - my lips now stick way out if I try to close with the Essix top and bottom retainers on - is this normal? I look like a goldfish if I close my mouth. Now I think that my whole mouth will change as well, get stretched out way beyond where it was just because of the retainers.
Does this sounds normal? What alternatives would I have - I don't want to ignore retention after all of the work and money I've put in but these retainers seem very wrong. Thanks for any responses!
