I have gaps in the back molars where the bands were and they haven't closed in almost a year. My dentist said it shouldn't be this way. If I eat certain foods I get food painfully stuck back there. Told that to the ortho, he clipped down part of the retainer a few weeks ago but I don't think this is working.

Anyone heard of/experienced this??

I had a couple of small gaps, noticed by my dentist, that were corrected by the orthodontist after my dentist phoned her about it. This is a concern that your dentist should have professionally addressed with the orthodontist. He/she should not have told you as something to tell your orthodontist. That's unprofessional on the part of your dentist.
