Care post-treament (bonded retainers)

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Care post-treament (bonded retainers)

#1 Post by totalwise »

Hi

I've been demanded since whatever it says on my sig, I think 2 years and 2 months. The treatment was all inclusive and up to 12 months deband care. Obviously it's a lot longer than that now.

I've had essix retainers (to wear a couple times a week during nights atm), and bonded retainers from canine to canine upper and lower.

My bonded retainers are still in tact, and the essix are still in good nick.

Now, I want to get the bonded retainers off at some point. Because it's still a pain in the ass not being able to floss and having to use the waterpik and make sure I have it fully charged.. and when I go holidays to take this beast with me.

Also, I guess I want to be able to feel my naked tooth, and im dying of curiosity ow it would feel like with these off.

WHen she I consider getting the bonded retainers removed, and if I do go in for maintenance work on the retainers how much should I expect to get charged for debanding and essix replacement?

I'd like to know because times are tough and would like to have an idea of the market rates to make sure I dont get ripped off.

That is an interesting question...From what I have read, the bonded retainers are permanent and can not be removed.

I thought once my braces are off, I would go bonded but might have to consider that after reading your question.
