Retainers

Im getting my retainers next week, after three years of fixed braces. I jsut wondered what type of retainers you get, are they just clear plastic? I know its different for everyone, but im not sure if retainers are ment to be worn at all times or just at night?

Some orthos use the clear plastic retainers, some use the traditional ones with the wire that goes across your teeth. So there's no way to know until you get yours! Well that's not true, I suppose you can call the office and ask if you really want to know.

The day you get your retainers your ortho or one of the assistants will give you instructions on when to wear them and for how long. Mine gave me a printed instruction sheet to take home with me with directions on when to wear, how long, how to clean, and how to store my new retainers.
