Puffiness around gumline after removal

It was a joyous day as I had my braces removed this morning. I'm very pleased with my teeth and how things turned out. I have some redness and puffiness in the gumline around two teeth in the left bottom arch. My ortho didn't say much except it will settle down and is result of all the pulling and stretching as the teeth move. I actually can notice it around one tooth when I smile so I'm wondering if anyone had such inflamation after getting their braces off and how long it lasted? Also, did you do anything special to coax it into healing up?

I've actually heard this can be a possibility due to the removal process i believe, i guess i'll find out on thursday. My suggestion is to use warm salt water rinses and brush the area very gently to give it some time to heal.

I think it must be irritation from removing the braces because it wasn't there when my braces were on. It looks better this morning (less red but still a little puffy though). I rinsed with Listerine probably 3 times yesterday and that seemed to help. Good luck Thursday  I teach at the University level and today begins Summer term 2......can't wait to address a new class without braces. Talking for extensive periods of time with braces tended to hurt at certain times when various places were shifting and rubbing!
