Hot liquids & retainers

Hey guys, though I'm still some months off debanding (not the initial plan but anyway ), I'm hoping to get hawley retainers top and bottom.

I notice a couple of people have mentioned drinking hot liquids is a big no-no with essix retainers in. I'm wondering if that's also the case for hawleys?

I realise that in an ideal world one would probably only drink water with retainers in, removing them for stuff like coffee, brushing, then replacing them but I'm a coffee fiend and couldn't cope with not being able to have a cup @ my desk @ work

My dh wears a hawley and consumes hot drinks with no problems. I'm not an ortho so I can't say whether it's bad or not for him to do but our ortho did tell him in particular to keep it in when eating etc.. and nothing about hot liquids.

I have an upper retainer and I have been drinking coffee etc. with it. No harm. Also, I don't think you drink extremely hot drinks, because you would burn your tongue.

No problem drinking hot liquids with the hawley only the essix.

Was told not to soak the hawley in pure Listerine mouthwash though.

They sure are hard to keep clean. :(
