Miss your ortho and staff?

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Miss your ortho and staff?

#1 Post by jennielee81 »

Does anyone here miss visiting their orthodontist and staff since being debraced?

I liked the attention and celebratino of small victories.

I know that we do go back occasionally for retainer checks, but after the every 4-10 week visits for the past 2 years of so... it seems sort of sad.

Unfortunately, given my experiences, I'll be rather glad to be rid of my ortho and her staff...

...but if it makes anyone feel better, I love my dentist! :D

Yes, I think I will miss Dr. Mumbles and his staff at the ortho office. I made my appointments on Wednesday mornings at the beginning of each month since November 2003!! My co-workers joked that I was having an affair. Funny thing is that I had to pay for an affair that only lasted maybe 5 mins each month and I was sore for a few days afterwards. What's up with that!!? Anyway, I was well treated and I will be sending a thank you note/care package in the mail.

I hate to be negative...but NO, I won't miss them at all. While my ortho is very good, the whole staff is so rushed and non-friendly.

Also, the consultation was so laid-back and nice...as soon as I paid for the braces, boom...it all changed. :(

I saw my ortho a few weeks ago for a retainer check (he also wanted to see my daughter, who'd had an expander a couple of years ago). Anyway, it was so funny, he said, "Lynn, how have you been; I never see you anymore!"

Well, I really like my ortho a lot, and yeah I do miss him and his staff sometimes, but since I'm not in braces anymore and not having any retainer trouble, I have no real reason to go see him, LOL! Maybe I should have lunch with him sometime (he often tells me how blown away he is by all the stuff I've done with my two websites).

When my kids begin their ortho treatment (sometime in the next year or two, I suspect) I'm sure I'll see him a lot.

I went in for my first retainer check today... and I'll have to say I don't particularly miss my ortho and his staff but I do miss my visits. I miss choosing lig colors ad making progress! My ortho would get so excited over my impacted canine progress! :D

HE wasn't the most personal ortho at least to me anyways and his staff at least at the front desk was pretty rude and inflexible but adjustments were something I looked forward to!

My ortho's chairside manner is lacking in my opinion and the assistants turnover fairly regularly and most of them leave something to be desired.

I am satisfied with my results but if I had to do it over again I might've picked an office that I could feel more at ease in.

This is so sad, the negative comments and experiences some of you have had. That must really blow if your ortho/assistant/office staff isn't nice since it's such a lengthy process. I'm getting my braces off June 4th and am totally going to miss everyone. I'm never there for less than an hour each time because my assistant and I always yak it up. Glad someone mentioned a thank you note and care package--that had not occurred to me.

I still have a ways to go with braces, but I will probably miss them, a little :) They are always friendly, and one of the guys and I always talk about random things. But I won't miss braces and the associated annoyances!

Well, I won't be in braces for 4 more days, but I adore my treatment coordinator and will miss her if she leaves during my treatment, or when I finish.

We hit it off pretty well already and have traded wedding pics, lol.

OK, so the most recent "season" was "the cream cheese was on sale at Safeway"

I have been thinking of sending a few giant bags of Doritos to my ortho's office when I get debanded  Maybe I'll do it to celebrate my one year mark - no one else will care about it after all

NO WAY...not at all, in fact I was discussing this with my work colleagues today saying I cannot wait until the point comes where I do not have to go to the ortho every 6 weeks. I really have detested every minute, the pulling and poking around, impressions that make me gag, the adjustments (always painful) feeling like I cant complain because I'm an Adult and should be able to deal with it...lol I could go on.
I just hate the whole going to the dentist/ortho thing and find the whole process so humiliating, I will be happy in a few weeks when my brace is off and I have my retainer :)
Dont get me wrong, I'm glad I finally found the confidence to have it done and I am pleased with the results but will I miss my ortho...NO.
All good things come to those that wait
