Hi!
I'm Paul, a 15 yr old high school student and aspirering photographer. I've had braces for 3 yrs and judt got them off last week. I just got my retainer today, I hate it!
The top one is pressing up againced one of my teeth and its really hurting me! When i took it out to eat lunch it felt really brused and num almost. Is this normal? Does the speech problem ever go away? I'm afraid of going back to school (after easter brake) and having one of my teachers call on me to read something out load.

Its just the first day and its driving me crazy!
I was just wondering how everyone else is doing w/ their retainer.

Anyhow, get in touch with your ortho. He (or she) can shave your retainer down until it fits properly. Mine wasn't quite as tight as yours seems to be, but mine had to be shaved down, as well. It's easy and should take only a couple of minutes at the office.
