They're off, but disappointment and dents

I was de-bonded a week ago. There wasn't quite the wow factor others have experienced on this site. I was shocked at how stained my teeth were and the dark triangles between them seem even more pronounced than when they were in braces. They looked a bit better after a scrape and polish with the dental hygenist, but looking up close and personal, I can see dents on the upper front incisors where the brackets were. I assume some enamel came off when the brackets were snipped off. This is very disheartening. Has anyone else lost enamel with removal of brackets? None of the other teeth are affected in this way.
On the advice of the hygenist, I've bought some special toothpaste which claims to restore enamel, but trawling through the internet, I'm a bit sceptical about its effectiveness. Admittedly, the teeth do look miles better than before and in certain lights, I can muster up a "wow", but I can't help feeling a bit disappointed.
