Positioner doesn't fit anymore after bonding /gap appeared!

Hi

I got some sort of a problem. I had some bonding work done and now the positioner doesn't fit anymore. I put it at night and it hurt me. Now I got a small gap between the upper centrals! What should I do now? Stop using it or use it anyway? I am getting retainers on Monday but the bite isn't perfect/comfortable anymore. How will they fix it? I am supposed to get an Essix. Can you tweak a positioner?

Hi Butterfly. Call your ortho's office. Yes, he can tweek your positioner. I had to have mine tweeked once, and will again after I get my crown in a couple of weeks.

OK good to know. It will have to wait until Sunday though. Should I sleep with it or without it? Thanks.

You have only had it about 6 weeks, so you still need to wear it some. If it really hurts you to wear it at night, maybe you could wear it for a couple of hours morning and night until you see your ortho. By wearing it during the day, you can control how much pressure you put into biting it....

Just a guess on my part.

The problem is not the pain, it's the gap being formed. I'm afraid it might get bigger....

Since I don't have a clue on that, would it be possible for you to call your orthodontist's emergency number and ask them what to do? It probably isn't a big deal, but that way the ball is in their court....

Good luck.
