Colour of your retainer

Today I was told that i need a retainer evem before I have gotten any braces
Well the assistant showed me probably 50 different colours. I started to laugh, as you cant really see the coulour when the retainer is in your mouth. Well, I had to choose, so i took magnenta.

i just chose my retainer color a couple of days ago. i chose the see-through blue... i looks pretty awesome i think

i dont get to choose one.
my ortho said the company is really conservative.
so, they only do the basic pink color.

I am blessed to have a really fun Ortho. I am getting a lady bug pattern for the top, and watermelon design for the bottom.

kayla, I had the same situation. But the pink ain't bad.

Mine is dark blue glittered with a red butterfly. I just couldn't go with basic and boring, even though no one else will see it.

Mine is dark blue on my bottom hawley and black for the top.

I didn't get to have any designs or pictures. Mine were blue for the first time around. I think I will go with something different when the braces come off again. Blue is my favorite color but I don't want to take a chance of mixing them up (although the new ones will fit better because they will be right).

The glitter is entirely on the inside. No lumps or scratchies.

Maryaten, I know what you mean about the hard candies scraping up the roof of the mouth! I HATE that.
My glittery retainer has the glitter ONLY on the tongue side. And it is as slick as ice.
The part that contacts the roof of my mouth doesn't have glitter on it but it is rougher....though it is an exact match to the grooves and things in the roof of my mouth, since it doesn't slide around, there isn't any problem.

May 17th is the big day for me, and I CAN'T WAIT! I already ordered my ice cream cake (standard procedure at my orthodontist's office when you get your braces off). The harder decision is... what color retainers to get.
I had heard that darker colors look funny when they are in your mouth (they cast a dark shadow or something). Is this true? I was thinking about blue glitter, and then I read that you should really stick with clear or pink. Thoughts? Thanks.

this was right after the braces were removed and my gums are swolen and a little bloody, that's NOT from the retainer!

I don't think it looks funny at all.
My ortho said that the clear retainers become yellowed with age so he REALLY warned against that one. My assistant said that the "tissue" colored one (pink) was too ordinary, but it was my decission. The words, "tissue colored" make me gag! So I went with the purple. GO FOR COLOR!!
