terrible bite/ wisdom teeth

#1 Post by FlyByNight »

I had my braces off about a year and a half ago. My bite wasn’t very good. They ended up grinding parts of most of my bottom teeth which i’m Not very happy about. Every time they grind something, it’s better for about a week and then it goes back to normal, with my front teeth hitting hard, and my molars barely touching. Also my wisdom teeth are ready to come out and I think that’s what’s pushing them forward. Anybody else have this problem?

I haven't gotten my braces off yet, but I had to get my wisdoms removed before getting braces on though.

Have you gone to see your ortho or consulted with another ortho about this? You could find out if your wisdoms are coming in with an xray.

I'm also wondering though, if your bite is terrible and your teeth are already straight, but still not fitting together, then you may actually have some kind of jaw size discrepancies/uneveness, which may not be fully corrected without jaw surgery.

I had a 100% overbite so I totally feel your pain. It was pretty much all the way corrected before I had to stop treatment early due to root resorption. My tooth look fabulous though.
I do still have some issues with my bite sitting strangely but I use the orthodontists trick to settle it. Tuck your tongue back as far as you can and bite down..that's where your teeth are supposed to sit.

As for the wisdom tooth, I'm lucky enough to find out I only have one tooth. When I started treatment it was peeping through but now it is really growing. My orthodontist saw it when I got my braces off and said that in three months it will need to come out. I guess with wisdom teeth they will just keep going so it's very likely that they could be seriously impacting your teeth. I would get a consult to get them taken out immediately.
