Pressure on One Front Tooth with New Essix Retainer

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Pressure on One Front Tooth with New Essix Retainer

#1 Post by annievan »

Hi,

Please help me. I try to be clear here:

4 months ago, I got my braces off and received an Essix retainer. Unfortunately, last month, the retainer has a crack on my RIGHT lateral incisor. The Orthodontist made a new one for me.
However:
-last Thursday, when trying the new one on, I felt a strong pressure on my LEFT central incisor. The orthodontist said I'll get used with it.(???)
-then that night, the pressure is gone, but when cleaning the retainer, I saw an indent on its LEFT lateral incisor. Curiously, I try to snap back the old one, then I felt a pressure on the RIGHT central incisor.
I assumed that the new retainer move my teeth around. The office is closed until Tuesday, so during the weekend, I was wearing the old one. And last Sunday night, my RIGHT canine starts moving (because of the crack, I assume).

I'm very frustrated and don't know what to do. Do you think the new one is OK or should I insist the office to make a new one for me.

Thanks,
Annie

Just go in and show them what you found on the new one and let them know your concerns. Maybe they'll make another? Doesn't hurt to ask

Maybe Hawleys would work better.
