Getting Essix's, Have questions

I will be getting my braces off sometime in the beginning of Spring. I will be getting an Essix retainer on the top and a Hawley on the bottom. My question is can you drink (diet coke, milk, water and such) with the Essix in? I know you can't eat with them in but wondered about drinking something. I occasionaly have a diet coke at work and drink water when I work out. Just curious if I will have to remove them when I just want to have something to drink.
What are some of the other rules for wearing essix's?

well I have both as well, and I drink with the essix in except if I'm drinking really hot beverages because that might warp the plastic. but I think it should be ok unless you're incredibly afraid of staining them...I do it all the time though.

Other rules ? Well I guess like all retainers. Wear them a lot. I have mine now
about 5 weeks, and even if I didn't wear them for some hours, my teeth have
moved and the retainers feel very tight again when I put them in. So I am sure
I will need full time wear for much much longer.
