What are the smallest metal brackets for the upper and lower front teeth?
I am asking because I think I would prefer small metal brackets over ceramic brackets. From a distance, braces with ceramic brackets very often look like stained teeth, and from close up you can see that there are braces anyway.
Thanks in advance for any answers.
BTW, I am 35 and I decided to finally do the step an get my teeth fixed after I though about it for the last 10 years.

can you ask for the size you want??

Hi there, hopefully someone can answer this one too, can you actually ask for the size you want, or do they put what they want on?? Cause I am going full metal upper and lower also, and I am going to try and do funky o-ring colors, but will probable stay away from the lighter colors.........

Mine are pretty small, my ortho told me that I guess they use smaller brackets for the uppers rather than the lowers? I really can't remember, sorry. I do notice they make my teeth look 'big' lol. I hope someone can answer your question better :)

if they are too small you lose control of teeth in 3 dimensions, so there is a lower limit to size

plus the exact type of bracket used has very little to do with the quality of any result - look for someone who knows how to diagnose correctly

I noticed mine are smaller than some people's on here, but I think like the above posters said, it all depends on what the ortho uses, though I'm sure you can ask your orthodontist about it.

I don't know what mine are called and I don't know how to look that up, so I'm really no help, lol.

Not to say that you should necessarily go with them, but I am in what my ortho calls "teeny, tiny" braces. Brand name 'Speed braces'. They are self-ligating, and like another poster wrote there are issues with torque due to their smaller size. However my ortho really likes them and specifically chose them for me. Their profile is not less though, and they are definately still noticable. The big plus that I find is that they are quite easy to clean, and no molar bands to worry about! You can find out more about it as you go ortho shopping.
