Removing my lower retainer

Hello. When I remove my lower retainer by pushing it up with my tongue, does this scratch my teeth? If it does, what is the right way to take it off? Thank you.

Using your tounge is NOT the correct way. It can damage the retainer as well as your teeth.

How you take it out depends on the type of retainer you have. Generally it should be pulled upwards by your fingers, if it is a hawley use the metal loops to hold onto.
