How long do the holes from extractions take to heal?

After years of waiting, I have finally scheduled appointments for two upper bicuspid extractions (dentist) and spacers (orthodontist).

I'm rather worried about the extractions, as I'm doing them without any sedation or anything. No Valium, Xanax, etc.

Can you guys please share your extraction experiences? How long do the sockets take to heal up? Is two weeks enough waiting time for the brackets to come on?

I had my extractions done on 12/19 and the wire placed back through my brackets on 12/21. I did not find the extractions to be a difficult precedure and honestly I was really excited to get the wire on so the teeth could start moving! The extractions only took about 20 minutes once I was numbed. The most difficult part was getting the clot to form because I struggled to get enough pressure applied due to the gaps. I fixed this by added an extra layer of gauze. It took about a week before I felt comfortable eating whatever I felt like but the whole experience was very smooth and simple. Good luck!

i am not the right person to tell you about the extraction procedure because i have dental phobia but its very quick and you don't feel any pain, just pressure.
after one week you will feel comfortable to eat etc and after two weeks you will feel perfect. i wore the braces when i had the extractions, and the ortho just didn't add the powerchains. if i had the extractions before the braces i would definitely need that one week to heal before the braces.

Hi I think it depends which teeth you have taken out
I had my molars out and the gaps are v large - they were taken out 2 months ago and I can't chew still - and can't imagine when I will be able to.
The dentist said that each pair of extractions would take about 10-14 days to heal for me and he was right. And I didn't have sedation but did have the area numbed.
