My teeth - needing restraightened up. :(

#1 Post by Avalon Rose »

Welp, I have decided it's timeto look into braces (or invisalign)... my husband says I don't need braces, somebody please disagree! I had braces as a teenager and my retainer broke later. So here I am with super crooked teeth just dying to get them straight again, my husband thinks that nobody notices my teeth ,but I seriously close my mouth to smile ,EVERYTIME or I will just cover my muth with myhand, I hate that, just hate it. Time for a change.

People have different perceptions and priorities. My family still doesn't understand why I would spend $5,000 on braces to have a nice smile, as opposed to using the money for something "more useful". To me, my self-esteem and happiness is a priority. I say, if you feel your teeth need straightening and you would feel better about yourself, more power to you, and go for it! It is important that you are the best you that you can be - smile and all!

We shall see! IF it is going to be 5,000 Idont think I can afford it. :( Boo

I think your teeth look nice but I can understand you wanting to straighten them. I had gaps at the front and all my family (husband aside) kept telling me that nobody noticed and that the gaps were only small and that no one could see my twisted front tooth. But I could see them! And they bothered me like nothing else.

Once my baby tooth got wiggly I finally decided to do something about it and it turned out that things likely would have gotten worse as I got older so I decided to go ahead with it. I'm glad I did. If it makes you feel better then it's worth every single cent!

Thanks Tobilei!!!! I took those pictures of my teeth yesterday cause if I decide to get braces or invisalign then I want to remember. If you noticein the very first picture my teeth have a perfect bite, I am talking they line up perfectly!!!!!! And everyone says but they line up great... oh my word, I know they do ,I had braces before, lol.... I would LOVE invisalign so nobody would even know, but I'd prefer braces cause I hear they are cheaper and faster. Ahhh, what to do....

I was offered invisalign too but after a whole heap of researching decided on braces. I think I'd be too tempted to pull aligners out all the time and not put them back in when things hurt. My ortho said that some (not all) people are unhappy with the result they get from invisalign and some end up needing braces at the end of it.

I was also put off by the fact that if things didn't go as planned I might have been hit with another $1000 fee to have more aligners made. I wanted to know exactly how much it would cost and that things would be the best they could be for my money. Also, nobody notices I have braces with the clear one's anyway.

I've had the odd day when braces suck a lot and thought I wished I gone for the invisalign but I'm glad I didn't. Many many people are happy they did though.

Yea those are my big issues with invisalign... unless your ortho does free refinements then Idon't wantto waste my time thinking that I can keep on tryingand tryingto achieve the perfect smile. I know Braces can do the perfect smile...with one try none of this getting new braces. lol. I have my first appointment this monday. How many consultations didyou get before you decidedone one. I might start a thread about that, cause I want to go to at least 3, my husband would like me to go to like 5 or 6, I say he's stalling for time. Haha

Lol, I replied in your other thread but I only went for one. We went for 2 with my daughter but prices were pretty much the same and the 2nd one was much nicer, the staff more friendly and they use newer technology so we felt comfortable with that. They also offered a guarantee that you'll never sit in the waiting room longer than 5 minutes or they start paying YOU (and you know....I've never had to!). I think 3 is a good number to start with, see what they say and take it from there.

Since I'm new, I don't think I can see the pic, but I absolutely understand. My family keeps telling me they don't understand why I'm getting braces....they don't realize it's more then just cosmetic! And even if it was just cosmetic....they don't see what you see when you look in the mirror.

Good luck to you!
