Just wanted to say G'day

Hello. I discovered these forums a couple of days ago and have enjoyed having a look around them as they are very informative. I am 28 and live in Sydney Australia and I am getting braces put on this Friday. I am a little nervous about it but not tooooooooooo scared. My boyfriend is being very supportive and has taken the day off as well to driving me there. I can drive myself but it's great to have someone else to do it as I might be a bit shaky.

I have overcrowding issues and had to get 4 teeth extracted. It wasn't too bad.. less painful than a bikini wax :p My dentist is a sweetie as well. He told me amusing stories when I went to get my teeth extracted which took my mind off what was happening. The orthodontist I'm going to seems nice as well. Apparently he is a bit of a perfectionist. That is fine by me! :)

Anyways, just wanted to say G'day :)

Hi Brenda!

Congrats on being only days away from your braces!

That's great your boyfriend is taking you to your appointment - I'm sure it will help to have someone there to help support you and calm you down. I'm a few weeks away from my braces but have already asked my husband to come with me on the day as well. Just more comforting!

So what kind of braces will you have and for how long? You should definitely keep us all posted on how it goes on Friday and your progress...

Take care -

Good luck with brace day!

Hi, Brenda, welcome to Archwired!

Have a good braceday on Friday! It will be really good to be started on the braces journey. It is good, too, that you will have support on the day, although going by my experience you will just be so pleased (and kind of relieved) that they are on!

I'm always intrigued when someone posts from Australia as I have relatives in Perth and Tasmania (not near you, I know) and I'd dearly love to get out and see them..

Good luck!

Thank you for the messages :)

I'm getting metal braces and I will have them for 18 months - 2 years depending on how it all goes.

Tomorrow is the big day! I think I will be relieved once they are on. I think it's just the waiting that makes me nervous.

I'll start a thread in the Braces Stories section after I get them on and write about how it all went :)

G'day Brenda, fingers crossed for you today.

Nice to have your boyfriend drive you there and back; after lying in the chair for a while, you may feel a bit spaced out (I know I did).
