Anxious to get braced

#1 Post by stargazer »

This is my first post. I am 46 and am making the leap of braces to primarily eleviate some symptoms of TMJ. Of course having a nice straight smile is a great bonus. Somehow after all these years I have grown accustomed to the crooked smile. Its not that bad, nor does it seem like a big deal. The TMJ symptoms on the other hand have had a huge impact for the last year, and finally brought me the courage to step in the door of the orthodonists office.
I have spent the last few days doing a lot of reading on this site. The information has been so helpful!
I will be getting braced on Wed May 21. I am glad you are all here and so willing to be supportive.

Thanks for the support. It certainly was an interesting experience getting them put on.
I took my IPOD and listened to meditations. I was pretty well zoned out and relaxed (after they got that stupid jaw strecther (?) in).
Steel, you are right stepping out was uncomfortable having to talk to people with this strange lisp. Luckily I have been on vacation and do not go back to work till the end of this week.

Audra, not sure who recommended it on another post but get a waterpik. I bought one this weekend and it has been so much easier! Also helps sooth the pain.
