Newbie with Damon Braces

#1 Post by MetalMonica »

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'm 31 and just got my braces put on yesterday. I have damon clear on the top and metal on the bottom. I don't have major issues with my teeth (everyone was like why are you getting braces???), but I had some spacing in the side of my smile and a couple back teeth that were a little wonky. It's bothered me for years so I finally decided to get it fixed. My estimated time is 12-18 months.I will post pictures when I'm no longer a newbie. I had very little pain yesterday, but experiencing more today. It's a dull ache most of the time and it's worse when I try to eat anything. So, far I've had a smoothie and some chilli. I think one of my bite turbos on my molar is too high (I hope I'm explaining that right) which is making the eating on one side worse. If it doesn't subside in the next couple of days I'll probably contact the ortho. I also have a slight lisp from my bite being a little open from the turbos so that I don't break a bracket. It seems like it's worse in the morning and if I try to talk too fast. Anyway, that's my intro, I've found it exciting to reach all the info on here. Glad this site exists!

I also have Damon Clear to fix side gaps and I have bite turbos too. I never thought I'd get used to those but I have. Best of luck!

Congrats on getting braces! I've also got Damon on top and metal on the bottom

I've had mine for two weeks now and it still sometimes gets weird to have a mouth full of braces, I'm a lot more used to it now than the first few days. Cannot wait to see progress!

Congrats on getting the braces!

I've noticed a few who've posted on here have the Damons. How are the adjustments? And did it take a long time to get used to the bite turbos?

I don't have turbos but I'll say that the adjustments don't take long with Damon braces especially if it's just a simple arch wire change. Also, my visits to the orthodontist are every couple months instead of every month.
