Hi ... so ... I'm 33 ... never had braces ... my teeth aren't that bad but I do have a pretty deep bite. I've been having alot of headaches and my dentist asked about it when I saw her few weeks ago for my cleaning. I didn't realize that it could be causing my headaches. She also said it looked like I was thrusting my tongue, I have deep grooves behind my lower front teeth and I guess they're starting to make marks on my tongue ... ugh. Now that she mentioned it I can't stop thinking about it and I keep catching myself doing it.
Anyway she said I should think about a bite splint maybe for at night, that it might help the headaches. But then I came home and started researching and now I'm thinking that I should just go to the orthodontist for a consultation, just to see what they say. In my searching I found my way here and well who knows maybe I'll be formally joining The Bracket Club before long.
I'm still anxious and hesitant to make the consultation, I don't know why, it's free and I know I don't have to do any treatment but it's still kind of a big step. How did you get over that first hurdle?

Re: Hi
Well I booked a couple of consultation appointments ... they aren't until the end of April or beginning of May but they're on the books at least ... now just trying not to overthink it too much before then
I've enjoyed reading all your posts but so much to take in ... and maybe too much for someone who's brand new to this :-/
still... thanks all for sharing your stories and encouraging words.

Re: Hi
Good luck on your consultations. I honestly first thought about getting braces 8 or 9 years ago, then 5 years ago, then 2 years ago and finally got them yesterday. What helped me get over the hurdle was just noticing that it kept coming back to my mind as an issue I wanted to get fixed. So, it felt like the right time to do something. I hope you're able to make a decision that's the right one for you.
