A scared newbie!

#1 Post by Linalin »

Okay, so I'm not quite so new to the braces world. I've had my wonderfully metal mouth for almost two years now.. I am, however, new to the board. I posted sporatically on the very old board Lynn had here but lost motivation to keep up with my braces story.

So here I am again.. I'm 20 years old. I'll be 21 in 16 days ;) I got braces when I was 19.. which doesn't seem that old to me, but believe me: I was the only person I knew in braces!

The reason I am scared is because I am having surgery today to remove an impacted canine, 4 wisdom teeth and have the adult canine exposed. :( I chose to do the general rather than the local because I am VERY scared of dental pain. You would think I would be used to it by now, but nope, still scared to death of pain.
My braces were supposed to come off in Aug of this year but I doubt that will happen now because of the surgery being so late.

:) Look forward to meeting you all and chatting! :)

Hi Linalin!

You never know, those braces might still come off in August as planned!!

What does your ortho say?

I think he is hopeful because I've had really quick progress the entire time.. but he won't give me an estimation date at all because he says everyone is different. Which I respect him for that because I'd rather hear the truth than a lie saying "Oh.. 4 months, tops." and then have that not happen. :)

I really like my ortho, I'm pretty lucky I think. I've heard horror stories before! Ugh! :(
