Braced Yesterday 8/21

#1 Post by CLC3 »

Hello everyone! I've have introduced myself in a few of my questions but I am the 30 year old male in the military getting ready to be braced for the first time on Tues. I had my final consult earlier this week and the verdict was Damon 2's upper and lower, bite turbos on top front teeth, two wisdom teeth out in Sept., elastics soon to follow and probably finish with a nice herbst appliance. 24-30 months total. Now that I am down to 4 days and counting, I am freaking out about this a little more than I thought I would. I fly airplanes for a living and am naturally calm in high pressure situations but this is different. To late to turn back now, wish me luck!

Hey CLC3, congrats on starting your journey soon. Seems like you have a great plan laid, im sure their will be days of frustration, but alos days when youll never know they are there, youll be so happy with your choice, remember your wax and salt water rinses, they are MOST helpful. Goodluck on B-day and keep us posted, would be awsome if you could post some pics, for us and you, youll really be able to see your progress. Again Congrats and Goodluck.

Hi CLC, and best of luck! I remember your previous post about the bite turbos. Glad you're about ready to start your journey. The first few days will be the most difficult, but after that you should be fine.

Look forward to following your journey. You'll find tons of support and encouragement here :D

And, by the way, thanks for your service! I admire people like you greatly :!:

4 days in myself, and adjusting well with a mouthful of metal. Follow Kiwi's advice and all will be well.

It will all work out and I know you'll do fine. It's unnerving but just think of all the adults who have it done.

Not weird at all! You're on the road to permanent improvement, and psychologically you know you did the right thing!

Really great that everything went well, and it's especially great to hear that you've not had any speech impairment from your bite turbos!

Hope you'll post some pictures when you get the opportunity.

Best of luck :D

Day 2- All is going well. No wax yet and no real pain. I have been taking Motrin every six hours while awake and that has been doing great for the pain. Teeth are tender and I will be eating soft foods for three or four days but life is good!

Glad to hear it's going well. My partner and I got braced at the same time, and he was really freaking too, but now a week in he said this morning, "It feels really good to be doing this". You bet it does. So congrats!

CLC3, sounds like you're doing very well! Where would we be without over the counter meds? Maybe swiggin a bottle of tequila or whiskey to numb the pain. :D Too bad it probably wouldn't go over too well with the boss.
