Difference between zirconia dental implants and normal implants?

Hi, my father lost one of his front teeth in an accident. It was partially broken. The dentist removed it completely saying that the nerve was damaged. Now, his front teeth are missing and his smile looks graceless. I have heard about zirconia dental implants from a friend of mine in Toronto. What is the difference between normal dental implants and zirconia dental implants? Are the results of this implant permanent? Is there any discomfort involved while using those dental implants? Please give some genuine replies and suggestions. Thanks in advance.
